Skill in drawing and observation is the foundation for all visual arts and design. This course introduces students to the fundamentals of drawing. Drawing techniques include contour line, gesture, and cross hatching. In addition, students learn to work with tone/shading and color techniques to realistically draw form. Subjects include still life, figure drawing, portraits , and personal expression.
Students select from a variety of drawing media such as design pencil, ink pens, charcoal, colored pencil , and oil and chalk pastel. Students are required to keep an art journal/sketchbook.
